The first in our series of community-sourced coloring books is illustrated by our students, faculty and friends and includes botanical, ecological and medicinal information about dozens of plants. There are resources provided for further exploration and hours of coloring fun and learning to be had by all!

Within the book, you’ll find beautifully hand-drawn illustrations of over 40 medicinal plants commonly found growing wild in the Northeast. This volume includes botanically accurate renditions of well-loved plants such as black cohosh, goldenrod, plantain, solomon’s seal, St. John’s wort, and yarrow.

Accompanying each drawing is text developed by practicing herbalists, providing the botanical and common name, plant family, parts used, habitat and growth habits, conservation status, pertinent cautions, and medicinal actions of each featured plant. Also included is a glossary of herbal and botanical terms and a list of resources for further exploration of herbal medicine, ethnobotany, botany, plant conservation and botanical illustration.

This volume is now out of print, but is available here as a PDF for download and printing at home. The pages are perfect for homeschoolers, summer camps, nature programs–really anyone looking for inexpensive educational resources.
