Herbal Support for Pregnancy Loss, Miscarriage and Clinical Abortion

Thursday, November 18, 5-8 pm ET.

Online via Zoom

In this three hour class, we’ll discuss supportive strategies for working with folks through pregnancy loss, miscarriage and clinical/medical abortion. We’ll cover the hormones and physiology of the menstrual cycle and early pregnancy, the causes and symptoms of miscarriage, and the options for clinical abortion. Together, we’ll discuss the full spectrum of pregnancy loss/termination experiences, and will investigate the historic and current context of miscarriage and abortion care.

This class is designed to formulate herbs for clients to support their body before, during and after the ending of a pregnancy. We’ll discuss adjunctive tools to ease pain, encourage or discourage blood flow, rebalance hormones, nourish and build blood, and reduce digestive and thermoregulatory upset. We’ll cover herbs and supportive strategies for emotional care and rituals for letting go. Geared towards herbalists, midwives, birth workers and abortion doulas, this class will cover ways to support folks through early pregnancy loss and/or termination, but we will not cover herbs to induce abortion. This class will be taught with a trauma-informed lens and with a commitment to bodily and collective autonomy; all genders and all bodies are welcome.
