From the perspective of energetic medicine, there are different species of anxiety, which require somewhat different strategies for treatment.

In this workshop, we will look at the taxonomy of heart shock (trauma) and anxiety from various perspectives – including a little bit of brain science, a little bit of anthropology, and some more Chinese medicine.  We’ll understand the effects of shock on the body from a Chinese perspective, its manifestations on the pulse, and strategies for self-care and treatment with herbs and acupoints.

Sarah VanHoy is a nationally board certified acupuncturist and herbalist, with many years of experience as a psychotherapist.  Her clinical interest and expertise is in Classical Chinese Medicine and the treatment of heart shock, trauma, grief, anxiety and addictive behaviors – understanding that the energetics and poetics of the medicine work not only to resolve patterns of imbalance, but to support the restoration of well-being and life purpose.
